Types of Bodywork: Our bodywork sessions typically include a blending of deep, yet gentle, massage techniques, CranioSacral Therapy, and Lymph Drainage Therapy designed to meet your individual needs.
CranioSacral Therapy (CST)
The CranioSacral system is a set of membranes or layers of fascia surrounding the central nervous system, creating a fluid-filled environment that nourishes and protects the brain and spinal cord. Imbalance or restriction in this system can cause sensory, motor, or neurological difficulties and can result in chronic pain, migraines, decreased coordination, learning disabilities, and other losses of function.
CranioSacral Therapy (CST) is a light touch, hands-on therapeutic modality that releases restrictions in the system. When these restrictions are released, the nervous system is able to function at its most efficient level for improved physical, energetic, and emotional balance. CST may also include SomaticEmotional Release (SER) during which your body releases old emotional patterns in a gentle, opening way.
CranioSacral techniques can be used on their own or integrated into treatment sessions that include other modalities.
Lymph Drainage Therapy
Lymph Drainage Therapy (LDT) involves a light touch with a wave-like rhythmic movement that enhances the body’s ability to move fluids. It is a very comfortable and relaxing treatment that can be performed on its own or in the same session as other techniques.
The lymph system is important in the body’s ability to detoxify and rebuild tissue, filter out toxins and foreign substances, recycle crucial substances that escape from the blood and maintain a healthy immune response. The healthy functioning of the lymph system can be impaired by injury, fatigue, stress, lack of physical activity, emotional shock, cold temperatures, infections, substantial swelling, age, chemicals or food additives. When lymph circulation stagnates, fluids, proteins, cells and toxins accumulate and body functioning is compromised at a cellular level.
Lymph Drainage is especially useful for:
- Lymphedema (swelling due to lymph node damage)
- Edema (swelling of other types)
- Detoxification protocols
- Regeneration of tissues including burns, scars, wrinkles and stretch-marks
- Relief of chronic inflammation such as:
- Sinusitis
- Otitis (ear infection)
- Bronchitis
- Acne
- Allergies
- Reduction in symptoms of fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue
Lymph Drainage Therapy is very helpful in treatment of recent whiplash or other tissue injuries when extreme tenderness and swelling preclude deeper forms of massage. Along with CranioSacral Therapy it can be used very soon after an accident and will increase the speed of healing and decrease the pain and discomfort of the injury.
Massage may be covered by auto insurance or Worker’s Compensation after an accident or injury. Sliding scale and package discounts are available to make treatment affordable for cash-paying clients.
Payment is due at time of service. Cash, check, or credit card payment accepted.
